Hamburg, Bastad, Newport Preview

I didn’t really see any value in the fields this week except maybe Anderson and Querrey in Newport. I choose Querrey.

Hamburg

Krajinovic has never won a final and I am not sure Djere’s serve will hold up at altitude. I was pretty close on hitting Bedene but he has been pretty poor in 2021 and this is actually a pretty decent field. I could see a chalky final of Tsitty and PCB.

Bastad

I show value on Albot and Cuevas but Albot isn’t really good on clay (I just can’t push his number out far enough) and Cuevas is way past it. Garin is interesting. The field isn’t great and I could see a Ruud/Garin final but Garin hasn’t been especially great over seas so far in his career. I think I’ll pass.

Newport

I show value on Karlovic and Sousa but Ivo is, like Cuevas above, was past it and Sousa, like Albot above, I just can’t price right (I mean, it’s grass, sample size is tiny).
That leaves KA and Querrey. They are both best on grass and play a big serve + one kind of game. But, Anderson hasn’t seemed right since about 2018 and Querrey showed some form in Mallorca and he is on home soil. I’ll flip a coin and say it comes up Querrey.
